This is the single most common question makers ask before joining, and it deserves a straight answer: yes, every project inside the Stitch & Sell Club includes a commercial licence. You can sell finished, physical items you make using our designs.
Here’s the detail, in plain English, not legal jargon.
What the Commercial Licence Allows
- Selling finished embroidered garments and accessories on platforms such as Etsy, Depop and Vinted, through your own website, at craft fairs and markets, or directly to customers.
- Selling an unlimited number of finished pieces made from each project for as long as your membership design library access applies
- Using your own photos of finished pieces in your own shop listings and marketing
What it Doesn’t Allow
- Reselling the digital pattern or project files themselves – the licence covers finished physical items you make, not redistribution of the designs
- Claiming the original design as entirely your own creation in a way that implies you designed it from scratch
- Mass-manufacturing via factories or automated production at a scale outside handmade/small-batch making
Where Can You Sell the Finished Pieces?
You can sell finished, hand-embroidered items made from Stitch & Sell projects wherever you normally sell your handmade work.
- Etsy: sell embroidered items such as jackets, hats, bags, clothing and other finished pieces in your Etsy shop.
- Depop: list your embroidered and upcycled clothing alongside your other fashion pieces.
- Vinted: sell finished embroidered clothing and accessories.
- Craft fairs & markets: sell your handmade pieces in person at local markets, fairs and pop-up events.
- Your own website or online shop: sell directly through your own store or website.
- Social media: promote your finished pieces through Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or other social platforms and either sell directly on socials or direct customers to your own shop.
- Local & custom sales: sell finished pieces directly to customers, friends, clients or through local creative businesses.
The simple rule
You can sell the physical things you make. You just can’t sell, share or redistribute the digital Stitch & Sell designs themselves.
Making the Designs Your Own
Inside Stitch & Sell, I’ll show you how to adapt designs, experiment with placement, combine elements and add your own creative touches so you don’t end up selling the same product as any other member.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, you’re not required to. Many members choose to mention “hand embroidered, design inspired by Stitch & Sell membership projects” as a point of authenticity, but it’s optional, not a licence requirement.
Pieces you’ve already sold or made while a member remain yours to have sold — the licence applied at the time you made them. Continued access to make new pieces from the project library requires an active membership, the same way a magazine subscription gives you the issues while you’re subscribed.
If you have a specific selling scenario you’re not sure about, ask inside the community before you list your products, happy to clarify anything not covered above.
