Makenstitch is a young and ambitious project. This blog was born from a need to add more meaning to my life and bring real change and joy into other people’s lives through crafting.
My hope is that Makenstitch will become your go-to crafty friend. It’s not about being the best designer, stitcher or crafter in the world, it’s about being inspired and creating things you’ll love, picking up a new hobby, and getting creative in all aspects of your life!
We’ll be making together everything from home decor, beautiful homeware, upcycled garments, artwork pieces and so much more! It’s all about getting rid of the idea of being busy and start taking care of your soul while creating beautiful things!
All tutorials here on Makenstitch are crafted with the complete beginner in mind, so anyone can pick up a needle and start stitching straight away. You’ll learn the embroidery stitches in a practical way, find free patterns & projects, which techniques you might need, stitch color palettes for your projects, and plenty of inspiration!
You will be amazed by what you can create with just a needle and thread!
I saved the best bit the last! All patterns on makenstitch.com are FREE for personal use. I keep them all in a Pattern Library, which is open to everyone and forever FREE! Sounds amazing, right? All you need is a password to get in, which you can request by filling out the form here. Once you get your password you can Login here.
About Gabriela
I’m Gabriela Statie, the designer and blogger behind Makenstitch, based in a cozy Northern Ireland town. Above all, I’m a proud mom to an amazing 13-year-old daughter, living my passion for crafting and sharing projects every day.
But the story started a while back, in a time when if something was broken you would fix it, not throw it away, and just order a new one. As a child, stitching was part of daily life and I was lucky enough to have a crafty granny who inspired me in my creative journey and life.
Fast-forward a few decades, a beautiful product designer career, two relocations, and most important an amazing daughter, life brought us to this side of the world – Northern Ireland. And this is where I slowly rediscovered my love for crafting, embroidery and sewing.
This doesn’t mean that these changes and life, in general, didn’t come with challenges. Gradually, my cup ran empty, and I had to reassess everything. That’s when I realized I had to bring real change and add more meaning into my life and the lives of those around me.
And that’s how Makenstitch was born!
I truly believe we should all do whatever makes us happy and spread the word about it!
I also know that being creative kept me sane over the years and sometimes gave me a reason to wake up every morning.
I started Makenstitch to share and help you discover or rediscover the joy of creating beautiful things with your own hands, pick up a new hobby, and benefit from the magic of being creative.
I’m really excited and grateful to have you here. Learning a new craft doesn’t have to be difficult, and it definitely shouldn’t feel like a huge investment of time and money.
Use Makenstitch as your extra helping hand in your creative journey!
