Sakura Tree stitch color palette Makenstitch

Sakura Tree stitch color palette for your next embroidery project.

Oh, Sakura trees! One of my favorite botanical themes to stitch. I created the Sakura Tree stitch color palette for one of my patterns, using a few shades from the Violet color family and two shades of Brown. This color palette can have an uplifting effect on anyone’s mood and it’s easily adaptable to other themes or patterns. If you’d like to see how I stitched this beautiful decoration you can follow my Sakura Tree Embroidery Decoration Tutorial.

For this color palette and the Sakura Tree Pattern, I just improvised and went with my intuition. The pattern was hand-drawn and for the colors, I just tried to match them with a real-life Sakura Tree palette. A combination of Violet shades seemed a really nice option.

If you’d like to increase the contrast between the Violet shades, you could replace the DMC 553 (Violet) with a darker shade like DMC 552 (Violet Medium) or DMC 550 (Violet Very Dark).

DMC TO ANCHOR EMBROIDERY COLOR CONVERSION CHART

DMC and Anchor are the most commonly used brands of stranded cotton. They both have a wide variety of colors and are made of good-quality stranded cotton. The thread is comprised of six strands, which can be easily separated as you might want to stitch with less than 6 strands depending on your project.

You can use both brands together for a project, for example, substitute one shade of DMC floss with ANCHOR floss, but please note that is not possible to provide a perfect color match between brands.

The Sakura Tree Stitch Color Palette uses the following shades of thread: Violet Very Light, Violet Light, Violet, Cocoa, and Beige Brown Very Dark.

Feel free to adapt these color suggestions to suit your projects.
