Blue Butterfly Stitch Color Palette

I’m always inspired when I see already stitched color palettes. Here’s this gorgeous blue stitch palette in action. I created it for one of my patterns, the Realistic Butterfly.

You can use this gorgeous blue color palette in your own projects or adjust it to any of my other butterflies patterns.

EMBROIDERY INSPIRATION

For the realistic needle painting project, I used an image of a butterfly I found in an old book. I then designed a new butterfly and background illustration and created the pattern.

For the color palette I kept the idea of the initial butterfly, I really liked the blue-pale yellow combination. Because I planned from the start to use the needle painting technique, I just added a few more shades of blue to create a nice shading and transition between one thread color to another.

DMC TO ANCHOR FLOSS CONVERSION CHART

DMC and Anchor are the most commonly used brands of stranded cotton. They both have a wide variety of colors and are made of good-quality stranded cotton. The thread is comprised of six strands, which can be easily separated as you might want to stitch with less than 6 strands depending on your project.

You can use both brands together for a project, for example, substitute one shade of DMC floss with ANCHOR floss, but please note that is not possible to provide a perfect color match between brands.

The Blue Butterfly Stitch Color Palette uses the following shades of thread: Tender Green Very Light, Celadon Green Light, Sky Blue, Electric Blue Medium, Electric Blue Dark, Black, and Blanc (White).

Feel free to adapt these color suggestions to suit your projects.
